“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.”
- Brene Brown
Talking to someone about what is really going on for you emotionally or mentally can be very hard. But there is nothing quite like sharing an emotional burden and you'll find that once you are able to talk about something, it becomes easier to cope with.

I have a master's degree in counselling as well as many years' experience working in a Rape Crisis centre and a Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation centre. As your counsellor I will create a safe, supportive space in which you can explore what is going on for you and find your own way to move forward in life.
"You are stronger than you seem, braver than you believe, and smarter than you think."
- Christopher Robin
Over the years I've been particularly drawn to supporting:
-
survivors of sexual assault
-
anyone struggling after losing a loved one
-
immigrants who have given up their home country and had to start again in a new place
-
people struggling with, or in recovery from, alcohol or other drugs
-
individuals struggling with a chronic health condition
-
women struggling with menopause.
What's involved...
Counselling is a slow process and I usually recommend you come for 6 to 12 sessions either weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your time and budget. Each session is 50 minutes and costs AUD 160 and can be done in person or online.

To make counselling more affordable, I also offer two different group counselling sessions:
-
Group sessions for anyone struggling with fatigue or burnout
-
Group sessions for menopausal women struggling with brainfog, depression or mood swings due to hormonal issues.
Please send me a message via my contacts page if you are interested in group therapy and I will send you details.
Some kind words from a client...
"I have known Ruth for a number of years. She is a masterful practitioner, open, clear, highly informed, compassionate, direct and a fantastic listener. It's a wonderful experience engaging with deeply conscious people like Ruth. I always feel that she is primarily concerned about her clients as whole people. In my opinion, her thoughtful integrative practise is an obvious extension of her own rock solid personal integrity." John, Canada.
